It is with a heavy heart that I must share the news that Frank and his wife Marilyn Thorne have died. The cause of death is unrevealed as of this writing An award winning comic artist, Frank had both drawn and written many of the iconic comic characters well before becoming known for his work on Red Sonja. He was actually the second Marvel artist, taking over for another legend Dick Giordano as 1976 Marvel Feature #2. His work can be said to have permanently shaped the image of the character as we know her today. His work in Red Sonja was compiled into its own book, Frank Thorne’s Red Sonja: Art Edition. While it can't be said that he ever left Sonja, after his time on her book, he would go on to create several more iconic characters at other publishers. I can't directly post the images, but Frank (as the wizard) once did get to meet his creation in the form of a convention costume (cosplay these days) designed and worn by the Legendary Wendy (Elfquest) Pini Enjoy: www.vintag.es/2019/09/wendy-as… 1.bp.blogspot.com/-fynTz6NMM3I… 1.bp.blogspot.com/-vRKUl8fhNS0… static1.polytrendy.com/RcQuaRk… |
